Freestyle

A Freestyle Mini glucometer, one of many choices on the market.

Some brands of glucometers have a switch or set-up option, allowing the user to perform testing using either mmol/l (millimoles/liter-world standard measuring unit) or mg/dl (milligrams/deciliter-traditional measuring unit) measurements. While many countries have adopted the mmol/L world standard, the United States and many other countries still use the traditional mg/dl unit of measure; many scientific journals have moved to using the mmol/L world standard. [1]

Making sure your meter is set to measure blood glucose in the common form for your country can avoid possible misinterpretation of readings. [2]
