Beta Laboratorios [1] began as a family business in Buenos Aires in the 1940's, but it the company did not enter into insulin production until 1987. [2]
It is now the only national producer of insulin; the other insulins sold in Argentina are produced by the multi-nationals such as Sanofi-Aventis, Novo Nordisk, and Eli Lilly. Beta is also one of the few insulin manufacturers who continue to offer Beef and Pork insulins.
Beta's line of beef and pork insulins is called Betasint.
